Only a blade away. The rain pattered against the window in bullets as it dripped from the cold glass, melding with others until falling into nothingness. The rain hadn’t let up for what seemed like hours, viciously beating the window in rhythmic patterns. The rain was the only thing that broke the deafening silence that was slowly drowning the only inhabitant in the room; the silence that always came after the chaos; the silence that was never welcomed.
